A Bear Otherlinker 🐾
Thanks for viewing my Carrd. This is just a temporary placeholder until my personal blog is launched on my identity in the Alter-human community.
Awakening in 2012 ⎯ I started a vast journey into self-realization.
Finding my connection as a Ursa many years later. All stemming from an unplanned trip to a zoo halfway across the country for therapy - I had my first authentic encounter with a Polar Bear.
Amazing enough, I got in free since they were closing for the day.
It took a while to fully consider a Bear as a Linktype. Continuously managing my disorder of Borderline Personality Disorder made the journey much more turbulent for me. As this impacts my entire view of myself as well as my view of others - this disorder even peaking / appearing as episodes of De-realization / De-personalization.
I doubted my identity quite a bit due to not having a genuine label. Feeling invalid due to comparison to those who simply just 'knew who they were'. This invalidity lead me to realizing I am actually a C'Linker. I attempted to leave the community countless times though I always managed to return. Unfortunately, Therianthropy is far from a choice. It's an integral part of who a person is and always will be.
Luckily, today I can wholeheartedly say that being a Bear is who I am - despite not being an Otherkin / Therianthrope. Proudly wearing the Otherlinker label proudly everyday along with being human.
Any Alter-human's struggling with mental illness. ⎯ You are valid.
As of 2021 ⎯ I happened to re-question this identity as there were a few things that stood out as more ' Grizzly' traits. Like: Bigger Claws, Connecting with Ice / Swimming but not entirely. Leading down a rabbit hole of self-research - I came across a new Polar Bear - Grizzly Bear hybrid that was confirmed in 2006. Nicknamed the Pizzly Bear / Grolar Bear / Grizzler. Scientists prefer the indigenous name combination of Polar and Grizzly ⎯The Nanulak.
This hybrid matched all my criteria all too soundly. So, I thought.
Holding mainly Polar Bear traits but also having the massive Grizzly claws / tending to dwell where ice and forest meet, just to name a few.
The Short-Faced Bear
I just didn't feel big enough when proportionalizing the Polar Bear ⎯ Grizzly to humans. This lead to discovering the Short-Faced Bear.
At first exposure - I thought this bear looked very awkward then what I was used to in modern day species'. A Short-Face ⎯ Long, Slender Legs.
I didn't count it out because of my aesthetic preferences. It's size instantly managed to make me shifty so there could be something of worth here.
Hours of researching led to connecting more and more. Learning more about myself in the process. Educating myself on the reasons behind why this species of Ursa was hypothesized to be built the way it was.
It all made sense! ⎯ Never would've guessed.
Now my goal now is to pin-down which genus of the Short-Faced Bear connects with my shifts more. This has been pretty difficult for me so I am trying to be patient with myself. Luckily, there is only two.
I appreciate all the support I've been given in the process!
